Here's our March show. Yes, it seems we're now to putting out one episode a month - and even that will be coming to a halt. Sethran is too busy on weekends to drive to my house and I just don't drive anywhere. So... there you go. We'll most likely make Episode 50 our big finale. Until then, here's this show's notes:

News

  • Tweeter is closing 1/3 of its stores and... no one really seems to mind

  • Apple TV has been shipped... and licked (by Olivia Munson!)
  • Emma Watson (and the other 2 goobers) have officially signed contracts to finish Harry Potter movie series. Um... yeah?
  • Xbox Live was hacked - or was it? Social Engineering is apparently still viable!
  • Toshiba has announced a price drop on its HD DVD players - yeah!

Tech Toy

  • Bozric has picked up a shiny new 24" Intel iMac

Movie Review

  • Casino Royale - 007's latest romp, now available on DVD... and it's EXCELLENT!!!

We're back after a nice impromptu hiatus. We didn't really plan on taking six weeks between shows, it just didn't work out for us to actually get together long enough to record anything.

Anyway, here's the latest episode's notes:

News

  • Robert Adler, co-father of the wireless TV remote passed away this month. We salute you, Bob, for letting us all get fat and lazy!
    RIP Bobby!
  • Beer goggles have been scientifically proven to be true - TADA!
  • Bozric's found yet another useless USB gadget, the singing Rain Sensor
  • Vista's Speech Recognition could leave you vulnerable to a website actually TELLING your computer to delete your files
  • The Wii is having some intermittent problems with 480p output

Tech Toy

  • Sethran bought a Nintendo Wii - he really likes it... Bozric thought it was fun but probably won't be buying anytime soon

Movies

  • Lady in the Water - One of M. Night Shyamalan's better efforts. Seth & Boz both downloaded the HD version from Xbox Live
    Lady in the Water
  • Crank - Sethran enjoyed it more than Boz did
    Crank

The MacWorld Cast

So we hit the high points of the keynote for MacWorld (if we have to explain it to you, you shouldn't be listening)

  1. Apple TV -- neat concept, we don't need it
  2. iPhone (not Linksys's) -- looks cool, too bad it's on Cingular and costs more than a Corvette
  3. New Airport Extreme -- it's fast, but not too fast
  4. More movies on iTunes, but we don't know from whom
  5. Axiotron makes the ModBook

Movie Review -- A Scanner Darkly
I thought it was cool, Bozric hated it but then proceded to watch it 3 times. Go figure.

It's like Mozart!

Our 40th show! We didn't make a big hullabaloo about it, so... here's the notes:

  • December 12th you'll be able to pre-order the long-awaited Optimus-103 Keyboard. Still no word on price or when it'll ship, but you can give the Russian developers money
  • The Wii came out today and there have already been 2 reported dead
  • The president of Universal says all iPod owners are thieves - and he wants a $1
  • RIAA, in yet another lawsuit, now has to justify their $750 per song fee
  • For only $30, you too can have your very own, very creepy Personal Pasta Singer
  • Our tech toy is the Xbox 360 HD-DVD player, available now
  • And our movie review for this show is Mission: Impossible III, which we both liked even though we both don't like Tom Cruise
MI3 - Good even with Tom!

Oh - and we're giving a quick shout-out to Lockjaw for featuring us in his latest show, which can be found here: http://thepodcastjunkie.com/

This episode is brought to you via the magic that is Skype and WireTap Pro - which is why the audio quality is, uh, different.

Anyway, here are our topics for this show:
  • The latest Apple rumor is that they are, in time for Christmas this year, updating the MacBook Pro line to include the new Core2Duo processors - and Sethran rejoiced greatly
  • Some time next year, Daewoo will be selling a voice-activated microwave. We have to ask... WHY???
  • It's official! Google is purchasing You Tube for $1.6 Billion in stock. There are a couple of twenty-somethings that are so drunk right now!
  • A Ukrainian scientist has invented a condom that plays music during sex, and again we have to ask... WHY???
  • We both have shiny new Samsung LCD TVs:
Sethran has the LNR377D, available exclusively at Sam's Club

Bozric has the LNS4051D, available everywhere else
  • And our movie for this episode is X-Men III: The Last Stand, available now on DVD

Hey - we finally have a new show ready for public consumption... and, no, your eyes aren't playing tricks on you. We had so many problems trying to produce show #36 that we decided we would simply skip that one and go straight to #37. Ta Da!

And here's our list of topics:
  • Microsoft has released the Xbox Live Vision, a web cam peripheral for your beloved 360
  • Yahoo, after much success with the personalized DRM-free song, has decided to expand the concept to an actual album... anyone know who Jesse McCartney is?
  • J Allard, Microsoft uber-dork, says the iPod is the Pong of Digital Audio
  • iTunes is now selling movies... and they sold 125,000 in their first week!
  • Intel announced that, rather than 1st Quarter of 2007, their Core 2 Quad chips will actually ship 4th Quarter of this year - and they're smokin'!
  • Viewsonic debuted their new iPod-enabled monitor, only you can't use your iPod directly with the monitor
  • IF you have an iPod AND you like to party, don't leave home without your very own iBreath iPod Alcohol Breathalyzer
  • Bozric already has one of the new 8GB iPod Nanos - and loves it
And what show would be complete without a movie review or two:

Episode 35 turned out to be a little longer than normal, as we just break the thirty minute mark... but's it's just chocked full of Brothers Green goodness. And here's the info to prove it:

  • Sony Mylo - if you want to help Sony rule the world and try to regain their "hip" factor, you'll want one of these
  • Apple announced they are teaming up with the teamsters - Ford, GM & Mazda are all going to be including iPod integration with their 2007 line of vehicles
  • The Opera browser for Nintendo's DS is spreading from Japan to Europe in October
  • Firebox has released their line of virtual "Tamagotchi"-like boy/girlfriends. Get yours now for only $38!
  • A Japanese farmer has grown square watermelons - and they're a steal at $83 a piece!
  • MyTunesRSS is a nifty little program that's supposed to allow access to your iTunes library via the net, anywhere... but Boz couldn't get it to work - at all
  • Drano Liquid Gel Max does work - if you have a clogged drain, get it!
  • We both liked the movie V for Vendetta
  • The Aquaman Pilot is now available in iTunes
  • Bozric hated The Net 2.0 and won't let Sethran watch it
    SUXOR!

We announced in the last show that we don't really edit our episodes once we start recording. We did receive an inquiry as to where the outtake at the end of every episode comes from. They're actually from other recordings. We typically turn the mics on as soon as they're set up and record a bunch of crap that only serves as a mic level check - not meant for public consumption, except in very small quantities. Hence, the outro snippet. This show, for example, we were discussing the finer points, or lack thereof, of Hardee's new Milk Shake commercials. Thanks for asking!

I've heard of Europe.

This show was recorded using our Fostex recorder from the comfort of my upstairs' sectional... which actually caused more technical issues than when I hook up everything into my mac. Go figure.

Anyway, here's this show's list of topics:

  • Microsoft finally admits they're developing Zune
  • Yahoo is now selling non-DRM mp3's and Seth bought one
  • MPAA hoped Shawn Hogan, CEO of Digital Point Solutions, would settle for $2500 when they threatened him with a lawsuit. He said he'd see 'em in court. Go Shawn!
  • Wendy's adds new flavor to Frosty lineup after only 37 years
  • Wizmark - coming to a urinal near you!
  • This week's tech toy is Bozric's new Motorola Q
  • And finally, our review of Matador, on DVD everywhere

So, we seem to have fallen into a two-week release schedule. Hmm... Well, it's not intentional. Sethran and I just never managed to coordinate our schedules over the past week or two. Plus he's sometimes really lazy about driving the 40+ minutes it takes to get to MY house. And there you have it.

But more importantly, here's what's in store for this week's episode:
  • Napster has finally found a way to make money selling their crap - banner ads! (everybody hold their breath)
  • Jerry Taylor, Manager for the city of Tuttle, OK, is a complete moron
  • Apple has released its beta of Boot Camp, allowing you to safely and easily dual-boot your Intel Mac
  • Parallels' Workstation 2.1 Beta allows you to install any X86 OS to be installed on an Intel Mac
  • Sony is discontinuing UMD movies for the PSP, Jimmy crack corn
  • India has developed a male contraceptive that kills sperm AND inflates the scrotum - so... sign me up!

Hi there little buckaroos! Sethran is out sick this week, so rather than go two weeks without any type of show, here I am all by myself (all by myself).

My short list of topics for this week include:

  • iTunes sells its one billionth song to Alex Ostrovsky and then promptly names its first born after him
  • Apple has announced a special media event for the 28th and the rumor mill goes into overdrive

  • I purchased a handheld GPS device, but don't know how to use it yet
  • Finally, I toss you my 2 cents on Serenity, now available on DVD

Back again for episode 21. I personally thought it would be a shorter show, since the news this week was slow. Buzz... 28 minutes flat this week. So, what in store you ask? Here:
  • Sethran's heard about a new hack for his PSP that only requires buying a $50 game
  • Apple's possible lawsuit from a deaf back-water dork
  • Microsoft might (or might not) be making a portable gaming/music/movie device that would leverage the Xbox brand... well, IF they make one, that is
  • Amazon.com is offering some lame-o 20-year-old movie as an HD-DVD & Blu-Ray preorder, shipping March 14th
  • Palm Treo 700, according to Seth, is great AND it locks up... just like Windows!

  • SmartDisk's FlashTrax is Boz's new toy - he loves it even though he doesn't know ANY of the specs

  • Boz reviews the piece of crap known as the CompUSA USB 1 Port Print Server (it's NOT good!)
  • Our movie this week, Stealth - we both liked it

This week's show is just chocked full of news, news and more news, a quick product review or two and, of course, a movie review. So... pretty much like every other show.

Right then. Here's the breakdown:
  • Disney is in talks to buy Pixar, which would make Steve Jobs a Disney board member
  • Imation is acquiring Memorex and will probably be merging their two catalogs of products
  • A new, if not somewhat questionable, study out that states that using cell phones does NOT cause tumors
  • There's a new world's record for solving the Rubik's Cube - you can sleep easy now, Penny
  • Konica Minolta announced their not just quitting film cameras, they're quitting cameras all together!
  • Gmail FINALLY has a "delete" button, now I can trash 1.5 GB worth of old email!
  • Nintendo Revolution, due out Thanksgiving, to sell for $300... or will it?
  • Digital music sales are expected to triple this year, coming in around $1.1 billion
  • Sethran bought Sony's Location Free Pack, but hasn't taken it out of the box
  • I talk about my new camera lens, the Sigma "Bigma" 50-500mm Telephoto Zoom lens
  • We review Jet Li's Unleashed DVD and collectively decided that it's, uh, okay
    Unleashed
  • A bonus tech tip from Sethran - you can use a regular camcorder a/v cable to connect your 5G iPod to your television

Mmmm... Stew!

Episode 18
A dozen and a half episodes knocked out. Whee! This week we're experimenting again... using Apple's iChat and the latest release of Garageband - aptly named Garageband 3. It's killer for podcasting now!

So this week we're live via web chat. You'll probably notice that the audio quality is slightly less than what we typically spew out. Still, we discuss the following:
  • The last week of 2005 broke the records for music downloads... someone call Guinness!
  • Steven Spielberg's BAFTA SNAFU - who knew England wasn't DVD Region 1, anybody?!?
  • Levi's iPod Jeans, @ $200 per pair, these babies probably WON'T be turned into Daisy Dukes
  • Nikon is discontinuing their film cameras, unless you're a dyed-in-the-wool pro
  • Microsoft quietly killed their support for Windows Media Player in the Macintosh world
  • Xbox 360 only supports HD-DVD, unless Blu-Ray is better
  • My new Akai 20" LCD TV/DVD Combo, hung nicely on my bedroom wall
  • Our movie this week is Crash, available at your local rental shop
    Crash

We'll see about recording live, in person, again next week... unless one of us is feeling lazy again.

I'm a scientist. No.

We're back! Off for almost a complete month, can you believe it? So what do we have to talk about for this first episode of 2006, you ask? Well, we're a couple of Chatty Cathys, so... a lot! Our longest episode yet in fact, coming in at thirty-three minutes. Here's the breakdown:
  • Toshiba's HD-DVD stand-alone player and the Xbox 360 add-on HD-DVD player
  • The upcoming MacWorld with possible announcements regarding possible upgrades to the .mac accounts and an early launch for the new Intel Macs?
  • Philips' Entertaible
  • Google announces they will be peddling videos
  • Target's new lawsuit involving a litigious customer, a digital memory card and home porn
  • James McAlla, email spammer supreme, gets his comeuppance
  • Sethran's review of the Sony PSP (pronounced pssp)
  • And our review of the movie The Wedding Crashers, now available on DVD
    Wedding Crashers

Hopefully you've got a half hour to kill and feel like listening to us to do so. And don't forget to use the comments section of this entry to post your holiday stories. We're curious to see if any one out there hates Christmas more than Seth.

I hate (fill in the blank)

No Show This Week
Our last(?) show before 2006. Since we didn't have a show last week, this episode is almost 30 minutes. During that extended time we talk about the following:
  • NBC Universal's additions to the iTunes stores (good gift idea for Sethran)
  • Creative's Zen Vision M, the latest in a long line of failed iPod Killers (Warning: link to site contains annoying background music!)
  • How to use MSCONFIG, with easy to follow screen shots available at NetSquirrel.com (additional info from Black Viper, now available at MajorGeeks.com)
  • Firefox web browser hits 9% saturation point, shooting for 10% by year end
  • ICANN considering using single letter domain names now (look for a.com coming soon?)
  • Microsoft's CEO Steve Ballmer has to buy his Xbox 360, too (just not wait in line)
  • Sethran bought a Sony PSP, but we're not talking about it
  • Logitech's 360 Harmony Remote (can you tell we like these things???)

  • Fantastic 4, now available on DVD
    Fantastic Four

So, there you have it, this year's final episode... or is it?

It's intuitive to me!

Episode 15
Our big Xbox 360 Spectacular! Both of us managed to acquire one of the uber-game consoles this past week. And, thanks to the magic that is Skype, you get to hear Sethran's play-by-play of his personal vendetta, er, travails to track down and then purchase the new gaming goodness. During this week's podcast, we manage to discuss the Xbox 360, a few other goodies and several games, including, but not limited to: All of that before my ISP went offline for a couple of hours.

Ain't technology grand?

We're back in my studio/office, so the sound levels are more "normal." Here's what's on tap this week:
  • An iTunes PSA (in case you don't listen to the show, there is a security flaw that affects both PC & Macs, expect an update from Apple soon... like any day now... really!)
  • WeaselBoy gets 6 years in prison to contemplate the true meaning of "WeaselBoy"
  • Barenaked on a Stick, a new album concept from Canada's Barenaked Ladies
  • Dell admits they are no competition for Apple's iPod and acknowledges other blatantly obvious facts
  • Match.com and Yahoo's dating service are both being sued for faking dates
  • I review the new DVD Madagascar
    Madagascar
  • iLounge.com has released their 2005-06 Holiday Buying Guide for all things iPod
Happy Thanksgiving!

We weren't sure we were going to have this episode - we had to record in a parking lot again this week and the sound levels were a bit dodgy for some reason. But Bozric was able to get the levels to a listenable...well, level. Regardless, we still talked about Sony's nasty little rootkit, Charlie Brown's pathetic Christmas tree, GeekGorgeous.com, OneRedPaperClip.com and the new DVD, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Enjoy!

This week, we find ourselves discussing the following news items:
  • Xbox360 and its (supposed) compatibility with your iPod
  • Sony's new software that makes it easier for you to transfer media to your PSP - if you've got the cash to download it
  • the Telecommuter Tax Act, is the government going to double-dip in your income?
  • Netflix's settlement on their class-action lawsuit (http://netflixsettlementsucks.com/)

Our tech toy this week is a preview of the impending Xbox 360, due on shelves of your favorite retailers November 22nd, provided they've made enough.

And our DVD this week is the just released Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith

The Big XI. Number 11. Elf. Still going...

So, we give you Episode 11. Go ahead. Take it. You know you want it.

During this show, we talk about a TV network going against the norm and actually embracing the internet to distribute their content, Star Wars TV, the final release of .NET Framework 2.0 and remote controlled humans. Then we discuss the tres-chic Johnny AppleSandals, our impressions of the new 5th Gen iPods, and Boz gives his 2 Lincolns on Kicking & Screaming, Will Ferrel's recently released DVD.

All wrapped up in a neat little, less-than-20-minutes, easy-to-transport package.

Hey, what more could you want for free?

Hey, hey, hey! Look who's got 10 episodes completed! Why, it seems like only yesterday we were trying to figure out how... er... sorry. Needless trip down memory lane there.

Anyway, this week Sethran's sporting a slightly deeper voice, thanks to a head cold. And even though he thinks he's Hollywood's new movie announcer guy, we still manage to discuss all of the following:
Whoops, Sethran can count to seis!

We're baaack! All of the trips have been completed and we're delivering our first full new episode in almost, what - 2 weeks?!? Well, since it's been a while, this week's edition is a tad longer, weighing in at 1 second under 30 minutes, but it's another live session - so it's a good thirty minutes.

What's in store, you ask? Let's see, we talk about:
Grab a cup of (insert beverage of choice here), sit back and enjoy!

As mentioned, no Brothers Green today. So you get Episode 02 of my news snippets. Sorry about the levels on the last one. This one should be better but more "raw" as it is a One-Take episode. Stuff covered: Google wants to blanket San Fransisco in Wi-fi and ads, Arnold cracks down on phishers, Disneys jumps on the MP3 bandwagon, patches from Mozilla & Real, and much, much more.
Enjoy!

Ok, so Boz is out of town on a little family trip so I decided I'd do a little something without him. So, to make it simple, it's just the news for today. Short and sweet. I'm planning on doing a few more of these type things to introduce a little content throughout the week. Hope the mix isn't too bad (Boz usually handles that part).

Peace.

LIVE! Once again. This time in the parking lot of Bozric's office. Shhh...don't tell them. The upside to being there? No mall security.

This week we start with some updates; including, but not limited to, iTunes, .Mac, Firefox & Opera. Coincidentally, Opera 8.5 is also our review of the week - It's now Ad Free and Plain Old Free. Next on the agenda is News: Dell announces the next "iPod Shuffle Killer" (please note the Quotes, indicating our biting sarcasm) and the international version of the RIAA wants to eradicate all copyrighted material and P2P software from your computer. Finally, we wrap with a brief, albeit insightful, review of the new live action DVD, Fat Albert.

So, strap on some headphones, kick your shoes off and let us take you for a ride through technology for the next 20 minutes.

Linkity Links:
P.S. Bozric mentions John Cage and his "song" - however, he refers to it as 4:34, when, in point of fact, the song title is actually 4:33. Hopefully, you'll be able to overlook this slight error and enjoy this week's show. If not, flame Boz!

Another experiment with our recordings - this week live in a mall parking lot! Who says we aren't thrill seekers? So, for Episode VII, we talk about Ebay's acquisition of Skype, our brand new Nanos (and in turn Boz's great[?] deal on shipping), the "Forever Flashlight" - all ya gotta do is shake vigorously - and we wrap with our views on Matthew McConaughey's latest flex-fest, Sahara. Where else can you get this much news and infotainment all while eluding mall security?

How about that? We've got 6 episodes under our belt. And while there are definitely things we are working on (like a solution to being able to record live on the go) we are starting to establish a format. So today we discuss Apple's announcements of the week (like every other news site), exploding chocolates, Godzilla eggs, an 85 pound energy source for your iPod and we give our thoughts on yet another hollywood rehash, Guess Who. Enjoy!

So, this week we try something a little different. Bozric and I are in the same room when we record the episode. And after several false starts, we manage to get one in the can. So, for your listening pleasure (or pain), we discuss DVD John's latest attempt to piss off a big company, the infamous "Subway Wanker", review the painful movie XXX: State of the Union and Boz reviews Logitech's Harmony remote. All while trying not to actually make eye contact with the other person.

Our "super special" VOIP Shoot-Out episode! We review five different programs that all do... um.. pretty much the same thing - let you talk to someone, computer to computer, via the internet. Up on our dais of dissection we gladly give you, in no particular order:

And we couldn't let a week go by without some type of movie review. This week, we discuss the finer points of Black Belt Theatre with the film Kung Fu Hustle, available now at your favorite DVD retailer. Our blatant product plug for this DVD can be found here:

Well, yet another week and no "podcast" to speak of... what we do have is available for listening - at your own risk! We were trying out a few different options for recording an audio session and hit a few snags. Some of them were software issues, mostly we had a hardware problem - my laptop! It kept overheating and just turning off, no warning, no error messages, just ... *poof* it's off.

We do have an amusing (to us) recording of Sethran talking while my system died and then you hear his phone ring while he is still talking. The audio clip ends with him saying, "Why are you calling me?!?"

Good times... good times...
